Monique Lhuillier: The Dreamy Designer-SS17 Collection
If you’re like me, when you hear the name Monique Lhuillier you picture flowing white wedding gowns full of organza and intricate yet delicate details – absolutely gorgeous styles that are only worn one time and for one type of occasion so unless you’re a bride, you’re probably thinking she doesn’t have anything for you. Well, as it turns out, that’s no longer the case! This famous designer has actually been making ready-to-wear pieces for a long time now but they’ve really come into the spotlight with her newest collection which she presented at New York Fashion Week.
Monique Lhuillier’s Spring/Summer collection was unveiled and we were treated to pieces that had more than a hint of nostalgia to them. According to the classic designer, the dresses didn’t need much changing and so if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
Her frothy collection had a Spring feel with a cotton candy palette. Her chiffon gowns floated down the runway in minty green, pale pink, and cartoon blue. Other frocks were full of tulle and Chantilly lace. Everywhere you looked it was as though the pieces sprung from a fantasy where princesses stroll the town in gowns embellished with jewels and sequins.
Any of her ready-to-wear ensembles will give you a new confidence straight from the books of a fairytale. I love this designer’s signature look with fabrics that seem light as air and pieces that make you feel like royalty.
